Here's a 4 part video of the Sunbeam Loop in Algonquin to help drive the winter blues away, or increase them.

Wow. Great direction and editing. And some good luck, too. I'm thinking of a scene on Burnt Island where you spot a loon, and suddenly a wind riffle "dissolves" the surface of the water. Very cool.

Looks like you lucked out, with all those glassy wind-free scenes!

Thanks for that. A lot of work went into it.

Its great when you get a well put together video, someone who knows how to paddle and an appreciation for where they are.

Oh Ya, and can communicate the feeling.

I watched the first one last night over on the great Canadian Canoe Routes website, was planning on watching the rest today. I agree, the maker of this series has some real talent, kept my interest. I can only imagine the amount of work put in to get such nice scenes.

He also has a sense of humor, great stuff, Thanks for linking it here.

I'm wondering about the boat. Dimensions, pattern and such. Still entertaining the thought of building a stripper some day.

Agreed on all points. I noticed early on some of his phrases were familiar. In part 2 he made reference to Shug, a fellow hammock hanger and another great maker of videos.

Sorry, sweeper,in my comment above (#2), I assumed the videos were yours; didn't realize you were just posting them for our viewing pleasure. Thanks for doing that.

Agree with DuctTape, the videographer must inhabit hammockforums dot net. "All secure in Sector 7" and "Whooo, buddy!" are Shug's trademark expressions.

Sweeper, you're not the guy who posted these over on BCUSA, are you? funny, two sets of quality videos like that hitting the forums at the same time... I enjoyed watching them... really captures the reasons I go and what I see when I'm out... except I never capture it on film the way this guy did... Regarding terminology, I was puzzled for a bit by the "sissy bar" until I remembered how long his portage was. Pretty funny about Shug too. And it's funny how he starts talking to himself and mugging for the camera as the trip goes on.

Yeah.. me too... seems like it was light and handled really well. Anyone have any idea what the design is?

Sweeper - Thanks so much for posting those videos. As the snow begins to fall again these type of experiences give me something to dream about for the upcoming season. While I love winter activities, paddling is of prime importance to me as well. These short films explain why better than I ever could.

That's all for now. Take care and until next time...Be well.

PS - If anyone has information to share on his canoe and where one might get plans, I'd love to hear about it.

OK here you go

Thanks sweeper... yes please pimp it out / share it with anyone who'll appreciate it!
The canoe is the "Puddle Duck" design by Gil Gilpatrick... 14ft

When I first got it i posted here looking for info... see here

I've grown to love it, and all its little qwerks.

Hi gang,
Tumblehome here! I've passed the rigorous entry exam and its nice to be in a forum of like minded paddlin fools.
Sweeper let me know he had posted Sunbeam Dreams and some of you had been asking about the boat etc.
I see he's relayed all the pertinant info. Let me know if you have any more questions.
I hope you all enjoyed the film and if so, would encourage you to also check out Karma Moose and the Redemption Trout.
Thanks for all the kind words.
Jason

Welcome aboard Jason, we've had a little bug problem which is the reason for the exam.
