The other major benefit of fishing barbless hooks from a tandem canoe or small boat is that an errant cast on a windy day accidentally impaling a partner is much easier to remove
100% barbless. Any lure with multiple trebles I remove the front one. Still catch lots of fish; much easier to release them. And not impaling myself when I am three days travel from an entry is nice too.
I do the same with my treble hooks. On some lures I'll remove one of the hooks from the treble. On my six inch floating Rapala I removed the front two trebles and one hook on the last treble and still catch fish.
