do I need to treat the wooden parts.

This canoe has been hanging in the barn for past two years. I want to clean it up an keep it stored in a cleaner environment and hopefully get back into it .

There is a plan B . Sell it if I find it just taking up space.

Placid Boat Works Flashfire probably built by Charlie Wilson .

Charlie if you happen to be reading this post I would really like know what types of wood were used on these canoes

The gunnels look like cherry, and the deck plate, look like laminated walnut(diamond wood)...

Thanks Canotrouge
As soon as I read your post it all came back to me. Cherry and diamond wood it is.

Also found an old email from Joe at placid "
Epifanes Rapidclear matte on our rails hand rubbed with 0000 steel wool"

I'll see if I can get that Epifane and recoat it

Rippy, I'll take that as a compliment, but I never used it personally, it is not really friendly on hand tools... That said I've been around for a wile, and Diamond wood is used a lot in risers of trad bows, knife handle and hand tools handles to!

Cheers

I haven't cleaned the boat up yet

But have relocated it to my new garage. Much cleaner than the barn
