I ordered some high density plastic and cut out six blocks that would fit in the pockets.

I'm not clear on how the plastic blocks are fixed into the pockets. Will they lift out? Not familiar with pick-up beds.

Carried a 20 foot 100 pound canoe for 800 kilometers on Monday, worked great.

Where did you go and what did you do with that delicate leaf? That's not even the square stern. I can't keep track of all the boats you've built, bought and boosted.

There were two bolt holes through the actual metal bed rail in the plastic bedrail pockets. Drilled holes through the HDPE to match the bolt holes, then drilled matching holes through the 2x4 so they all lined up.20250704_103007.jpg
5/16 bolts hold it all together.
The 20 foot canoe was an extended version of J.Winters' 18.5 foot Quetico. It built into around 25 years ago. For the last 15 years it has been used primarily by a couple who come with us on our annual canoe trip to a series of local lakes. Last year they moved to Kenora, which is about 800 k from us, so I refurbished it and delivered it to them as a gift. Trying to downsize, gave a solo to my sons future father in law, and dumped a Kevlar souris river real cheap to a young couple a couple of months ago.

Forgot to mention, inn a less charitable tone, whoever designed the bed rails on the 2024 Ranger needs a kick in the Gonads. Many customers have complained, and Ford has done doodley squat to remedy the situation. I have complained to two different dealers and the head office twice, with nothing but obtuse answers fit for a politician. I really like this truck, except for that one major design flaw.
