Not exactly canoe related, but I thought I'd share for fun. Just finished a 5 day bike trip on the Great Allegeny Passage rail trail and C&O Canal towpath from Pittsburg to DC. All my companions brought bikepacking setups, which are various bags strapped onto the frame of the bike. Not a lot of extra storage. Very kayaker. In typical canoeist fashion though, I brought a trailer, with plenty of room to carry pretty much anything I pleased. We had to eat lunch on the trail a couple of days rather than stopping in a town, and guess who got to carry the food for the group.

My son got married at our place over the weekend. Brought out the canoe I made for my wedding and Honeymoon and put it to use.

Low water. I go to my put-in the day after a hard rain and find that the river went DOWN. I guess the dam upstream must be shut and the rain just went into Lake Michigan. Sometimes a sense of humor can be important.

You don't get the opportunity to paint a boat like this too often. In fact in 33 years this is the first time and now I have two of them in the shop at the same time from two different customers! What are the odds! The short one is a 11 ft Old Town 50lb model built in 1963. The longer one...
