And the gunnels are spruce, added approx. 5-10 pound weight. Height is 3/4" and widht 1/2" inwale blocks are 1/4".

I finished canoe 2 weeks ago and made my first trip with it. paddles well and straight, hard to handle alone, but with two person easily.

On paddling Solo in larger canoes. It takes many many hours to learn how to paddle solo until it's second nature. I don't know what you would call it in your country, but here in the USA I learned what may be called "Northwoods" style paddling. It pretty much reduces the need to keep switching sides to keep the boat on course.
