My favorite design featuring a canoe on a silver dollar......

Hello everyone,
I really like the reflection of the young paddler turning into an early native paddler.

The story as told by the artist Jason Bouwman......
The canoe has become as much a part of the Canadian visual lexicon as the Canada goose, the beaver and the maple leaf. This design shows a young person enjoying a recreational outing. The boy breaks from paddling to dip his hand in the water....and touches the past--the reflection reveals an early native paddler (or voyageur) in a traditional birch-bark canoe as it also appears on the early Canadian silver dollar of 1935.

There have been quite a few Canadian coins that feature canoes, some are special editions and some are just regular circulated coins.

This one is a little different

My eyes aren't that great anymore, but that young boy in the 20 dollar coin looks very much like an alien, one of those grey ones, in a winter jacket.

I like the earlier ones. It actually took me a few seconds to see the two different canoeist’s in the first post, that’s a beautiful thing.
That 1963 Canadian Silver Dollar is very nice.
