I prefer "house wrap", Typar over Tyvek (Tyvek is too slippery and noisy in comparison).

Packs up smaller than poly and probably weighs less.

Tyvex brand and similar house wraps are popular for use as footprints. They are lightweight compact and require no hem to prevent unraveling. Simply cut to shape required and use.

I only use footprints when base or car camping. I have never taken a footprint on a remote camping trip.

Tyvek and typar are really easy to find for cheap too if you go to a developing subdivision. Just look for the houses that are being sided or papered and wired and either dumperster dive or offer the crew a round of Timmies and they’ll probably give you a chunk.
