Location
SW OH - Land of Opaque Water
Air quality in the UP is “Very Hazardous” and wind is supposed to be from the NW most of next week. So much for Sylvania Plan B. We need about 3 days of drenching rain across the whole of Ontario and MN.

If it clears by mid-August, I have another permit for BWCA. My alternative plans for next week are likely to be kaput. I got this beautiful new RV and no place to go!

Me and Bogan are getting too old to miss another whole season of tripping.

I recognize the hurt that comes with getting beat down multiple times. I am not offering the following as a dismissal of that feeling, but I would shift focus to northern New England. Maine, in particular.

I don't know your exact location, but central Maine is an hour closer to Cambridge, OH than is Ely, MN. And there are a lot of options closer than the central area. Maybe interesting to you, maybe not, but that's what I would be looking at in your shoes. (And did, during the 2021 BWCA fires and closures)

Looks like I dodged a bullet this time. I've gotten used to being thwarted by smoke and fire, and come to expect it.
How far west are you willing to go? Montana seems to be unaffected by wildfire so far.

Maine had a hazy red sunset last night and a hazy red sunrise till about ten this morning. Doesn’t look bad now but I expect another red sunset.

We woke up this morning to "dusk" and it remained that way all day. Tomorrow is predicted to be even worse. People have been advised to wear an N-95 mask while outdoors on Thursday. I work at an outdoor museum so it could be a day with no visitors tomorrow.

That's all for now. Take care and until next time...be well.

Labrador and Newfoundland are looking pretty good. :-(

Hazy here (MSP) just looking 100 yards across my lawn to the woods...smoke smell is strong too.
