What the Shell?

I wore a hard hat for the rain and big trees. When the rain stopped the brush was still wet and there were few trails except for those made by bears.
This made me laugh. When I first started working in the Caribbean I couldn't figure out why all the old guys wore hardhats all the time. Then I found myself in one of the many coconut plantations when a coconut dropped. Got a hardhat myself the next day.

Marmot Precip or an equivalent. Much like headlamps, I can't keep track of them and have several, including one that is always in my day pack (and probably another in my ditch bag). For paddling I like a splash jacket, and I find myself wearing them more and more often just as a shell, replacing the Precips because most of the time I don't really need or want a hood. For just generally out and about when its wet I have a ca. 2000 re-issue of the classic Sierra Designs 60/40. Love that thing. With pit zips and an oversized hood it would be perfect.
