I recently got a 12"x16" clear, plastic map case by Seal Line. I can't get the zip-lock-like closure to close. Seal Line suggests applying Vaseline, which I don't want to do because I think the Vaseline will trap dirt and make matters worse. If any of you are familiar with this map case and provide hints on getting it closed, I will appreciate it.

Vaseline does help and I don't think it'll cause too much problem with debris (just use the thinnest application possible, no globs). But I avoid those ziploc-style map cases now.
The newer Recreational Barrelworks one with a waterproof zipper (like on a dry suit) is so much better. Only used it for one season so far but it's no worse for wear so far.

Thanks. I’m going to return the Seal Line and order from RB. Zipper rather than zip lock seems sure to work better.
I bought a RBW map case last summer, I'm really impressed with the quality.
Have a look at Aquapac. I bought one in 2008 and have never wanted to go back to any of other options.

The Aquapac bags look quite good...but they've lost me by not providing the volume or even dimensions for them (not even on their size guide tab).

Oh boy... Once more, CTN excels at separating me from loose change... Maybe I can offset the $50 cost by not printing maps on waterproof paper but that seems like it puts an unwise amount of faith in the case remaining waterproof.
I've been happy with my Duluth Pack map case. It has a velcro closure.

Recped's map case is quite voluminous. I'm certain I recall things being lost in it. You can't need anything bigger. Myself, I like the Watershed deck bag made for k***kers - it has a window for a map. I print out maps at home and have them laminated at the local office supply store - 2 pages back to back to a sleeve. A little sturdier and definitely waterproof that way. I received the map case I ordered from Recreational Barrel Works. The zipper closure looks great! However, I don't understand why they built in so much useless black trim. I just emailed RBW this comment:
I’m sending this email to suggest you enlarge the clear windows on the map case. For orientation regards this comment, I’ll call the side of the case with the logo the “front” and “top” is where the logo appears. The map case is 34mm tall and of that 34mm, only 22mm is clear window, i.e. 35% of the case’s height is black plastic. Maybe the black plastic is necessary to mount the zipper, but that’s only on the back. Why can’t the clear window be taller on the front? What is the benefit of carrying around a map case that has 35% of the content blocked from view? I am very disappointed the clear window isn’t larger. If I had purchased this on Amazon, I’d return it. However, I am going to keep it due to the effort and expense of returning the product to RBW. I will not be recommending this map case to other paddlers.
I only provide this feedback in hopes you can improve the product to the benefit of paddlers who may purchase a map case in the future. I wish you good luck and success in your business.
