Sold

That's a very good price for a nice boat. I expect you'll have multiple forum members interested. I would recommend adding your location because that's the first thing everyone will want to know.

Dogpiling a new member seems a bit poor form. No reverse image results, not cross posted, not showing up repeatedly on other forums and groups. Might have just been a great deal. I've lucked into two very low priced canoes in the last two years, and one was on this very forum.

I am very thankful for people who are willing to say they got their use out of something and pass it along for less than market rates. Otherwise, I would not have much gear.

I was texting him last night and he was having trouble figuring out how to edit the post to mark it sold. He ended up just changing the title.

Yes, I understand the notion that we not respond negatively to a new poster. But I am suspicious of offers to sell that seem too good to be true, especially from an unknown first time poster.

With that said, welcome to the board steveshan.

About 6 or 8 years ago on our local Craig's List there were items being posted that seemed too good to be true. There was $10,000 car

posted at $2500, $5,000 garden tractors posted at $500 and so on. The post contained phone numbers, pictures and everything else needed

to seem on the up and up. It happened so often the authorities started to investigate and found that the whole thing was a complete scram.

The scram was set up to harvest your computer address and other information when anyone clicked on the post. The computer information

was then sold on the black market. Local authorities and Craig's List announced to be skeptical and not answer any ads seeming to be too

good to be true. Thats the way it happened, it pays to e careful. You just never know.

I saw the post a few minutes after it was up and didn't see anything suspicious when I checked the IP address. I checked for similar listings on other forums with the same user name and didn't find anything. I'm as skeptical as anyone but I think it was legit. If a scam I wouldn't have expected it to be marked sold the same day but rather leave it listed perpetually. I think someone got a great deal and i hope they appreciate it and enjoy the gear.

I have a buddy that routinely lists items he no longer wants at ridiculously low prices (sorry, folks, he doesn't paddle). He does it because he wants it gone asap without dickering price or having to field inquiries for a week. Like the canoe listed above, his stuff is usually listed and sold within hours (occasionally the singular of that noun).
