So far 9 new members have responded to the 3 questions I sent out when they registered, all with answers that proved they had some knowledge of canoes and the English language.
One person didn't respond, even after a second email was sent. Not sure why, the name seemed ok, but to keep with the policy I deleted his/her membership application.
And one person was not sent an email cause I recognized his name and it would have been somewhat awkward asking him canoe questions to pass muster.
So for now, and probably from now on, this system of sending the 3 questions seems to work.
