I have consistently overloaded my canoe on trips. I can no longer handle the weight of my kit and dog too. The magic just isn’t big enough. Looking at a Northwind solo or another Prism. Haven’t found one, seeking other options.

Doesn’t seem to be many used canoes in this size category. Not much new inventory at my usual shops.

Have you considered soloing a tandem? I would think that on average they would be more stable and carry a heavier load than a solo boat in a similar length. My composite Bell Seliga is 17' and only weighs 40 lbs. and was great on the soloView attachment 147557 trips I did with it.
Concur. I solo a BL Northstar Polaris. Ordered with 3 seats, after taking out bow and stern seats it weighed 37 lbs. By myself and day gear it doesn’t draw much water. Bigger cockpit eases sit/kneel transitions.IMG_0158.jpeg

I actually did solo a tandem. I’m pretty sold on solos in the 14-16’ lengths.

I took the plunge. When the guy said he would deliver for $99, I had to do it. Delivery in a couple weeks. I was on their way to a SC shop delivery.

Bought a NW Solo for my dog. Carbon fiber trim, foot brace, Starlite layup. First trip to Wabakimi planned for August.

Anyone in the market for a well maintained 5 yo NS Magic?

As I've said before, the Wenonah Encounter is a great boat and holds a ton, but finding a used one isn't going to be any easier.
I have a North Wind solo. A solid choice, but maybe not enough of a jump from the Magic.
I think the Prism looks good.
