BWCA permits available today!?

Not my field of expertise for sure but I think the 2020 BWCA permits are up for grabs starting right now at 9 AM CST and are first come first served. I'll apologize in advance if this is incorrect or a false alarm

It's true although there isn't the excitement there used to be. Used to have a lottery and permits were harder to get. Usage is down quite a bit over the past 20 years so they dropped the lottery and other than holiday weekends and a few high use weeks at the end of July and early August you can get a permit. Last summer I got my August permit for one of the most popular entry points in August.

Third week in May half the Stuart River and half the Mudro permits were gone in a few hours. If you have a specific entry point and only one entry point allowed per day, it sure is nice to book it. While overall use may be down, I find the areas I want to go, even with 460 rod portages are taken quickly!
