This is a big ash paddle. I saw it at an antique store today and apparently it just came in. I have no affiliation to the seller or the store but I can help someone else own it if they are interested.
It’s looong 78” long and the blade is 30” long. I neglected to measure the width of the blade so your guess is as good as mine.

It’s in very nice shape. The dealer is asking $95 plus tax
If anyone is interested I would not mind getting it and holding onto it till we can figure out a transfer. Maybe you are coming to Maine this summer.
@lowangle al I know you bought one long paddle from me this is right up your ally.

Might be a take on one of these:

That’s a nice paddle Jim. I’d have a hard time passing it up for 95.00. Although I never used a 78” I don’t think it’s too crazy long for a standing. It looks like an upgrade compared to my 72” ash Maine guide paddle.

it could very well be a North or Voyageur canoe paddle- my bow paddle is actually 81" because at the bow station you're almost 2' above the waterline compared to a couple of inches in a regular canoe

I'm the lucky winner. I happened to be headed south yesterday after 3 nights on the Aroostook and happened to see Jim's post, so I made a detour for the paddle and a visit with Jim (great to meet you in person and thanks for spotting the paddle!).

I haven't weighed it yet but it didn't seem too heavy for a 78in solid ash paddle. (Glenn, I'm sure you'll be disgusted by the weight no matter what the number is. 😉) I'll weigh it and measure the blade width when I get a chance. Looking forward to trying it out.

My 66in is really to short to stand with, to my chagrin, so we'll see how this goes. Al, maybe if it's too tall for me I can trade it for your 72in 🙃

The label claimed it's a stern paddle. But the label also claimed it's like new, which it certainly isn't, so I'd take it all with a grain of salt. But if I recall correctly the Mainers tend to lengthen the stern for more leverage on steering, and standing while paddling.
