I screwed up and ordered not only a thinner than average webbing, I got nylon insead of polyester. Its outside te time frame for amazon to accpet the return. Do any of you have experience with nylon and/or 5/8" material? Do you think I will have significent problems or think it will last at least a couple seasons?

I'm pretty sure the paracord that I use is nylon and I've seen no deterioration in any of my seats. (it's also a whole lot thinner than your webbing)

Use it! I have a seat I did an emergency repair with tubular nylon webbing more than twenty years ago. It’s a little faded now but otherwise fine. The cane had torn and I needed the boat in the water working in the afternoon, I had the webbing so I wrapped it up and went to work. Even this past winter I saw it and thought I should make a whole new seat but it didn’t happen.
There is nothing more permanent than a temporary repair.

What are you planning on using it for and can you please post a specification or link to the webbing?
As a long time climbing instructor I've used a lot of 5/8"/16mm nylon webbing but suspect what you have isn't the same thing at all. At any rate, the difference between the UV resistance of polyester vs nylon is not particularly huge and the number of hours of direct sunlight exposure are what matters. If the webbing if stored out of direct sunlight and is only occasionally in sunlight I wouldn't worry about the difference in UV resistance.

Both nylon and polyester have good UV tolerance, so that isn't going to be an issue. However, for seats the nylon will have stretch and then stretch more if it gets wet. Stretch is the primary difference between the two, so comfort will be the only main issue between the two IMO.
If it stretches past comfortable, a 1" cushion, on top, will get you through for awhile.

I've never done it but I know of a few people that soaked the nylon overnight before rewebbing, claiming it will tighten up far more than if done dry, and they also spray the finished product with quality waterproofing which also contains UV inhibitors to slow down absorption if it does get wet.
