I've only been there twice but I enjoyed visiting the Steger Mukluks and Wintergreen stores. A round through Piragis Outdoors is well worth it as well; at least all of this was true many years ago (LOL). Also, if it's still open, be sure to stop by the Dorothy Molter Museum (the Root Beer Lady). It's just out of town but definitely a must-see.

If you are a fan of Sigurd Olsen there is a display at the ranger station outside of town and I believe his house is open as a museum but I’m not certain. And I agree with Snapper. There is also a folk craft school there but I didn’t have time to stop in. I had a great breakfast at Briton’s Cafe.

The captive, rescued bears were a little sad, but the natural history information and exhibits inside the North American Bear Center made it worth the time and price of admission.
Lots of interesting artifacts at the museum at the College. And if really enjoyed the Soudan Mine your.
The international wolf center is worth a stop as is the root beer ladies museum.
