Most Useful/Best Clamps for building a stripper?

You make some really good points, Brian! I had considered some of these, like recurved tumblehome making it useless, but it's funny how a person can just completely not consider some simple element of a system sometimes: I hadn't even considered the issues of getting glue on the straps! That would be such a mess potentially. I wonder about a material that would make a simple sleeve over the strap, to protect it. Maybe inner tube strips passed over the webbing? Or just taped sleeves cut from heavy contractor plastic bags. I wonder.

Absolutely agree about the epoxy for the strips: that stood out to me immediately as well. Seems like a TON of extra work for an unnecessary gain.

I like seeing the range of methods out there. I need to buy some inner tube, because I picked up 22 clamps to turn into Jimmy Clamps a few days ago.

Also, I did go over clamping methods I have tried and what I feel is needed in my current build, you can find those pictures and musings here :

Love exploring other ideas !
My methods have evolved soo much from my first canoe !

Absolutely, Jim! I worried about whether it would be possible to weirdly torque on the forms too, but that's probably unfounded unless someone were to use ratchet straps and really crank on them. but the slip-off would be problematic.

Brian I think three of your threads are on my re-read and re-read again list here! I really like the screws/shock cord method you used here, and I think a combo of that and jimmy clamps is very likely where I'm headed (although I will probably use some small bolts with washers to stabliize them instead of screws). There is a wealth of information in there, and I appreciated that break-down of the evolution you went through and playing with things lke the plastic wrap, etc.
Did you find the shock cord had the same issue as the strap method, of getting gunked up with the glue? Maybe you mentioned it in the thread and I missed it.

Glue will find it's way onto and into anything you use. If it's rubber, it peels right off, if it is cloth it makes a hard spot on the surface, if it's shock cord, it sticks and makes a hard spot, but when it stretches, most of it let's go. Additionally, when you use shock cord like I did, then it is a fixed length piece, the glue never hits the same place twice and it never puts a hard spot at the point of pressure. In fact the point of pressure is the hardwood dowel, so there is little danger of any glue type damage.

I figure 3 builds and it's time to replace the shock cord, to put it in some perspective.
