Seen This Type of Canoe?

Not sure what the frame is made of but in similar boats like this that I've seen, the fabric used for the body was Dacron. That's about all I can add. Sorry...

That's all for now. Take care and until next time...be well.

PS - Alan's post arrived as I was writing mine. Seems like Dacron is the winner!

Something like these, but I haven't seen on with hung seats.

I just hate seeing a hull neglected like that.

Your son should rescue it and use it! I've never tried one but hear great things - very lightweight and surprisingly durable, so they say. Cape Falcon is a company that makes kits and instructional videos on building these - he's added rowing and sailing rights to them as well.

He still has the boat, yes, it is a Monfort design, a Snowshoe 12. Complete with kevlar roving.
He rarely uses it now, being married with two boys. He has other boats that suit his current lifestyle better, and he's currently working to build a few more carbon hulls using a Sawyer 17'9" Cruiser as a plug.
The trip we took in 2004 to Duck Hole (now known as Muck Hole) was a perfect use.
