My son found this canoe in a friend’s yard in SC. I’ve never seen a wood frame like this, so I figured more knowledgeable folks here might find this interesting…or not. I have no idea what the hull is made of and my boy did not ask.

Skin on frame. Likely home built. Much more common construction method for kayaks than canoes. I believe a couple of our members use them almost exclusively and maybe even posted a build thread. The skin is, I believe, usually dacron.

Not sure what the frame is made of but in similar boats like this that I've seen, the fabric used for the body was Dacron. That's about all I can add. Sorry...

Agreed. I’ve made a number of skin on frame kayaks, but never a canoe. I use polyester fabric, but dacron is usually the choice for canoes.
Something like these, but I haven't seen on with hung seats.

Dacron IS polyester; it's just Dupont's trade name for polyester fabric. Also used for aircraft covering under the trade names Ceconite, Poly-Fiber, and others, but it's all just polyester fabric.
That's a Monfort Snowshoe or a copy of one; I don't see any roving on it. Monfort was famous for using extremely thin ribs reinforced with kevlar string criss-crossed between the ribs and the skin.
