Outfitting a Mohawk Intrepid 16 for WW

I've wanted to get into ww canoeing, but I don't want to drill holes in my only canoe (16' Buffalo, made in Arkansas). So I've been on the hunt for another canoe that I can outfit for ww paddling. I found this last night...

Seems like a pretty good deal for an Intrepid 16, but what do yall think?

I found a block post by Erik Ekilson's about the Mohawk Whitewater and how it is basically the same boat as the Intrepid. This got me pretty excited to scoop up one of these boats. Do you think it's worth it?

I'd buy one even though I already have seven or so canoes. For $150 it is well worth it.

I don't like to drill holes in my canoes either and I don't. The airbag lacing can be threaded through eyelets. Covers can be secured with heavy duty velcro. D-rings can do just about anything else. What were you going to drill the holes for?

I was referring to the airbag lashing and/or spray deck (maybe for the future). I didn’t realize I could get by without drilling. That’s great to know.

I watched some YouTube videos about outfitting an canoe for ww and the ones I saw all drilled holes in their boats

In This one, ray goodwin drills the heck out of his hull.

I would prefer not to do this. What would you suggest? It would be great not having to poke holes in my boat

It’s quite up to each individual’s opinion. I’m sure there are proponents of every way. We currently have a thread going on splash covers. And you can use the search function for your other questions or start a new thread.

Thanks! What product is your go-to for lashing the airbags in the bow and stern?

I think most people use paracord. Something like this:

But again, others will chime in with their own preferences.

The english like to drillen. Most in have pe or a bit less heavy royalex. If they take them on whitewater many times they paddle on scrappy shallow streams . There seems a fairy tale over there about ripping eyelets.
I like much what they do. Not mu h the drieling part
