The U.S. freestyle movement, which also incorporates "Canadian style" solo paddling in tandem canoes, has been very influential in stimulating open canoe interest in Germany. This is the annual Kringelfieber freestyle gathering in 2022. The video has interesting overhead drone shots of the canoe choreography

All those boats clustered together; it looks like the first day of trout season on any local lake.

Pretty cool to see that many open boats and everybody holding single blades.

Looks like fun to me! Considering the cost of getting US made canoes to Europe those are some dedicated paddlers.
