I picked this up at an antique store in Tupper Lake a few weeks ago. They had it tagged as a "sneak" paddle. I believe this is an Adirondack guide paddle. It's extremely lightweight. Definitely not a hardwood. I varnished the blade and have been using it ever since. It has quickly become my favorite paddle.

I figured it would be on the long side. That length would work for me for both sitting or standing, although not optimal for either. When seated I would probably grab the grip end at the lower end of the diamond making it feel more like a 60 incher. That was a great find.

Yup...guide boat paddle. I have an H. Dwight Grant guide boat built in 1898 (?) and the paddle that came with the boat is very similar to what's in the photo. It's incredibly lightweight; which goes along with what you're saying about the one you have. Best of luck using it. I hope you get to enjoy it for years to come.

That's all for now. Take care and until next time...be well.
