My guess is an Old Town from between the early 1920s and late 1930s. It probably had sponsons originally and may be an HW model. This has had some significant repairs in the past. I can offer more details if you can get the serial number from the inside stems.

I couldn't see any numbers from the pictures posted in the add. The canoe is about a 4 hour drive from my house. It looks like it would be a lot of work to restore.
I agree, the oddly extended stern deck also looks like it may be hiding something. The most valuable part of this canoe may be the diamond headed bolts, which probably aren't worth an eight hour round trip. Oh well,

Restoring one is not for everyone. I found working on my 1951 Guide 18 to be very tedious after the canvas started to fail. I started replacing 10 ribs. It needed a lot of new planking. The inwales were shot. The red and white cedar were old and brittle. I finally gave up on the canoe and gave it a Native Washoe friend of mine.
I would like to try my hand at restoring a wood and canvas canoe someday. Right now I have too many projects. This one looks like a major challenge.
Its a challenge alright. Too tedious for me pulling all of those tacks, and working with old brittle wood.
