I've been trying to find a new Royalex tandem. There are lots of Mad River Explorers out there, but some of them are Triple Tough, Mad River's polyethylene sandwich.
I've been struggling to understand how to identify (and exclude!) The triple tough boats without picking them up. Sometimes there is a sticker on the outside of the hull, but when it is missing it's a real struggle.
It looks like Mad River changed their serial number format somewhere around 2000. The older serial number format in codes the model and material number. But the new serial number does not, at least that I can understand.
I found this triple tough canoe as an example. The little sticker on the stern is the triple tough sticker. The end plates have integrated carry handles. It has webbed seats. Does anyone know if these characteristics are specific to the triple tough boats?
