I picked up a new trailcam on clearance at Menards a couple of days ago. My buddies and I have joked about bringing one on trips with us to see what wanders thru our camp at night while we are asleep. I set it up in my backyard last night aimed at our bird feeders. Our dog Luca goes nuts every morning sniffing out the overnight visitors. We live within the city limits, but our neighborhood is nestled in between two rivers and several parks with a lot of green space….the 3rd photo is our dog, Luca.

I have thought about getting one of these for years but then I start reading about game cameras and get over whelmed by all the possible choices and prices and walk away. Maybe I should just do as you have and buy some cheap on sale stuff. Thanks for sharing.

We bought a trail cam from Tractor Supply a number of years ago. It’s fun to set it up and see what walks through the yard. The down side for me is you need to pull the sd card out and load it into the computer to view the pics. If I buy another I’d like one one that send real-time pics to the phone.

Brad has set up many of these around our property. That’s how I know we have panthers, bear, coyotes, bobcats, wild hogs, deer, turkeys, etc.

This particular one has an infrared flash so it doesn’t spook the wildlife. At night it shoots in B&W mode. You can shoot still photos or video clips or a combination of the two. This model uses 8 AA batteries and a micro SD card. I moved it outside my fenced yard last night, but set it too low….I still caught a raccoon, opossum, and some deer legs walking by…..I moved it again tonight…..I think my wife is more excited about it than I am. My future SIL has several high ends ones with blue too the option as well as cell service. heck receive text messages when it is activated.

A few years ago, while on a Solo trip in the BWCA, I set up a trail camera at my camp. All I caught on it was me ! Ha !

My son has the one that sends pics to his phone. He knows when the big ones are on our property, saves a lot of wasted time, spent in a blind.

I wish there was some sort of sighting hole or something, I too set it up too low and only got legs one time.
Yes infrared flash at night. Mine also records time and temperature.

Wasted time in a blind! I sit in the woods all the time just for the experience. Is it still hunting when you already know the time, location and buck? I think they have remote control guns now. You won't even need to leave the couch. ;)

I have one we set up on some empty land I have on the outskirts of town. I hang out there with a couple boys and it's always exciting for them to scroll through the new photos to see what popped up. Lots of deer and coons but also skunks, possums, coyote, fox, cats, and serial killers.

The killer was fun but didn't elicit quite as big of a reaction as I'd hoped.

Good one Alan, from now on whenever I see one of your posts, I will be thinking “Chuckie” has posted again.
