Last Friday I took delivery of a 2026 Swift Cirrus 14.6 in carbon fusion with the crimson tint, matching float tanks, carbon foot bar and basalt innegra interior. The boat weighs in at 27.2#'s. Now I just need winter to die:p

When I test paddled this boat back in June both kneeling and sitting I found it very stable yet responsive. To me this boat feels like a mix of the Wildfire and Phoenix with just a bit more hull speed. My intention for this boat is my so called "Everyday boat" that is why I wanted it in the sub 30# range. My life has changed a bit and I'm more likely to day paddle right now than do tripping. Below are the specs from the Swift site:

  • Length: 14'6"
  • Gunwale Width: 27"
  • Maximum Width: 30"
  • Waterline Width: 26.5"
  • Centre Depth: 12.5"
  • Bow Height: 18.5"
  • Stern Height: 16.5"
  • Bow Rocker: 2.5"
  • Stern Rocker: 2"

Very nice looking canoe, Joe. I didn't know a carbon fusion layup could come with a tinted exterior and a basalt-Innegra interior, and at such a low weight. Swift is so cutting edge when it comes to materials and aesthetics.
It seems swift makes enough volume to know what can be done and have enough margins to have time to change their standard routines.

Sadly for example savage river is still living in their black is beautifull fase.

@ adk joe. The first paddle will be very rewarding after the wait.
Is this waiting more difficult as the other way around? As in yes there is water, but the new ordered boat is late?

Hopefully someday i can be ordering new boats. Until then I have to enjoy the wondrs of the second hand boats.
Partly i like the second hand bits a lot. Some come from good frineds.

Glenn I feel as Swift can pretty much do whatever the customer wants or at least it feels that way to me. With so many varying options now their website does not reflect it. Back in June 2025 Bill and I started the process while we were at Canoe & Kayak Sales in Portlandville, NY. I changed my mind several times on what I wanted especially in regards to color. Bill eventually suggested the crimson tint and tthe basalt interior, so glad he did.

Looking forward to the first paddle! Just ordered knee pads to install from Northstar as I have them in my Hemlock Eaglet and really like them.

Happy to see @adkjoe mentioned where he purchased his new canoe. Brent Baysinger, owner of Canoe & Kayak Sales in Portlandville, NY, has been a breath of fresh air with his small shop located on the Susquehanna River where it enters Goodyear Lake. Located about halfway between Oneonta, NY and Cooperstown, Brent is a true supporter of paddle sports and is constantly getting folks started in their on-water adventures. If you're ever in this part of central NYS, do yourself a favor and stop by his shop. It's located in an old mill building, right on the river off of Rt. 28.

That's all for now. Take care and until next time...be well.

June Bug - Light Textreme w SGlass outer.jpg

Savage River offers light Textreme in various colors. It is a lighter fabric than regular Textreme and the fibers are dyed to get the colors. For both of those reasons, Savage River recommends an outer skin of S-glass. As a result, this layup is very expensive and may be a pound heavier than a regular Textreme layup.

Cool, I did not know that.
