Glenn, I cannot view your post to the Strap Yoke Variation thread. No matter how I try to access it I get a message
Invalid value '0' for parameter userid in method vB_Api_User::fetchProfileInfo

For short carries with lighter canoes I am a fan of always-there strap yokes in solo or, I suppose, three seater combi-canoes. Heavier canoes not so much, although I have one in the soloized Penobscot and RX Explorer.

Mohawk sells them, although their price for a length of webbing, some Velcro and a couple machine screws is a little out there.

The following was my post today in that thread:

A different question about a strap yoke.

For the solo portage lift, you need to be able to grab the yoke to lift and rotate the the canoe off your thighs and to put the canoe back down on your thighs. Can you do this with sufficient grip, leverage, safety and efficiency with a strap yoke on a 60 lb. canoe?

I can see the original thread and my today post when I'm logged in. When I'm logged out, I can't see any of the thread and get that error message. This site has some goofy quirks.
