Just got a call that my NC Prospector 15 has arrived. Pick it up Tuesday on my way to the cabin. I'm anxious to see if it's river worthy as a solo. I wouldn't expect it to be nimble like the Phoenix, but if I can comfortably take my dog on a swift moving river it will be worth the looooong wait (13 months).

I think Jim Baird used a 15' NC prospector solo on some serious ww trips. He used to take his dog too, not sure of the boat though. Check out some of his videos to see it in action. I think you're gonna love it, let us know.

Not sure why you have a line going over the grille.. Having the line go to another hood loop on the right side of your vehicle would give you better anti slide physics in the case of a sudden stop ( the line is shorter like the line on the left side of your vehicle)

Looks great! Also looks like Rutabaga'a parking lot? Can't have crooked factory skid plates if there's no factory skid plates!

Did you order it in a solo setup or regular/tandem? Can't quite see the seats in the pics

Think I’ll call her Blue. The yoke is contoured and feels nice, but on long portages…. Any ideas for a contour yoke pad?

Just make your own. Start with a pool noodle wrapped around the yoke.. You can also try temporarily putting on minicell. Or here ya go if you got extra cash

TBH ... try a yoke pad, it's simple and cheap and you may be surprised at how comfy it makes the yoke

Roger.
I generally leave my pfd on while portaging the canoe. Think I’ll try a few Carries unpadded. It’s all moot until spring as I’m not supposed to lift anything heavier than my shoes.

I said start with it to see if you need cushioning and how much.. Its not a permanent fix. The link I supplied IS a permanent fix.
On a 165 mile trip we used my partners royalex Wenonah Aurora with a pool noodle duct taped to the center thwart. It worked out over our two week trip but needed some reinforcement with tape several times. I would have used pipe installation which holds up better.

We have a Wenonah Odyssey 18.5 foot long 45 lbs that has no yoke. It has a thwart midships.. We haven't ever had a need to install a yoke but we have had those old fashioned PFD s that had padding on the shoulder. Of course they are no longer available as happens to good things.
