I’m still, stubbornly, map and compass. I learned as a Boy Scout, reinforced by Voyager school in the ADKs, and now teach it to current scouts.

I also still occasionally carry and use a candle lantern just because.

I’ve read many books with my candle lantern hanging overhead. Tried the headlamp a few trips. Sleep better with the candle.

Yes. Planimeters are very handy for measuring the area of vegetation types. I haven't used one in 30 years.
