It’s going to be a looong recovery for Bogan after TPLO (ACL) surgery on his left rear knee. I put a ramp off the porch, a pen in the house so the other dogs won’t interfere with his convalescence. He’s pretty drugged up, but will soon begin therapy. I had to create a spreadsheet for tracking his medications. Eventually, I’d like to get him some water therapy, as I’ve heard that’s best.

No more leaving him loose when I’m fishing from shore. He gets too worked up, cutting back and forth until I cast. Gonna be tied up unless we fish from the canoe. Sorry Boges.

Poor guy. Hope he heals and rests up. An eventual house and yard bound recovery isn't as hellish as we might surmise. He deserves a reprieve from faithful doggedness. An all inclusive vacation. Tripping without him will give the both of you new perspective on companionship.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, etc. But looking at your poor feeling companion, there's no need for overthinking this.

Dogs make my life better every day. We have three.
Taking care of them comes with the territory. Keeping them quiet when they are recovering is one of the biggest challenges. Recently we had a dog with diabetes and had to inject him twice a day. We are glad to do it because critters are important. Best wishes for a full recovery.
