Lows Lake Sept 27/28/29

Man, am I sorry that I had to turn back. My cardiologist said that it was a little too soon to get back tripping, but I never listen when there is something that I want to do. Mistake. My heart said no after the portage so I just spent the rest of the day meandering back to the truck. I was fine but cautious for a change.
I sure hope this happens next year as I should be leading the pack by then. ;)

Loved that smoked steelhead and sorry that I missed out on the kohlrabi pancakes. Will spend the winter trying to come up with a treat that I can legally cross the border with.

Shaheens in Tupper is a pretty decent market.. If you have a recipe in mind.. I might have to go to Oscars.

need help.

Of course I can bring something seashore related.

I routinely have gotten away with meat from Canada to the US.. it never even comes up. I have some well travelled jerky and SPAM that has made several crossings. I just forget that its there; not advising you do the same.

https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/1273/kw/food from canada to us/sno/1

meat is sometimes a no no and other times not.. the rules are constantly in flux

note that US cheese is generally lacking. And its ok to bring in Canadian cheese.

Well, my friend Claude and I got to Lows late Thursday to start our week and passed you guys driving out near Horseshoe Lake. We did bump into Robin and spoke for a few minutes before heading in. Nice to see you again, Robin. Sorry not to have been able to make the rendezvous and meet you folks face to face.. You hit the weather window just right as we had a week of rain pretty much but had some good paddling.
Regards,
Dave
