I’m looking for a monarch to help fulfill some tripping dreams. Anyone have one that’s not seeing the water enough that they’d be willing to part with, even reluctantly? I’m located in Duluth. Thanks for considering!

I guess you know it is back in production at savage river ( or gbr newmann). There is a trhead somewhere here.

Beware of scammers. They tend to pick up on "wanted" classified posts and will send a private message stating they know someone who has what you're looking for and will then give you an e-mail to contact that other person. There have been a couple instances where the PM has come from an established users account, presumably because that user had been hacked so they had access to login credentials.

Keep your eyes out for a Clipper Sea-1 canoe as well. It's a little longer (17' 9" vs 17' 3") and a little narrower (28" max width), but is essentially the same boat. The Mad River catalog lists the Monarch gunnel width as 28" so max width might be 30".

I realize you live in MN but I'm pretty sure I saw one on a recent Hemlock Canoe post. It might be too far for you to bother with but maybe you have a connection that could bring it to you if you're not traveling east? Just something to ponder.

That's all for now. Take care and until next time...be well.

I know of a glass sawyer loon w rudder setup in a garage in the twin cities. Not sure it’s getting much use. I could check on that if you have interest.

I’m intrigued, and would be happy to have you check. I’m not in a rush, so no pressure. Thanks.

There is now one over here;

Still on the lookout. I spoke several times with the recent seller but the cost and distance are prohibitive. I also have spoken with one scammer....

It’s been a while since I saw him but did send him a message to let him know about this thread.

Gotta chim in, had one a few years ago. Crazy story that was also connected to Paddling .com.
I wanted a beater boat to lend out, saw a listing near me on Craigs list i believe near me in Long Island NY, 10 min from my house.
$100 for 14ft canoe. Guy just wanted to clear out his relatives place, red boat was sideways under bushes with the side being sun faded. Holy cow, what the heck is this I'm saying to myself, not 14ft and it has a rudder, Mad River Monarch on the side.
I tell the guy, here is $100, he tells me a guy in Chicago just offered $125. "come on man", Chicago? thats probably 1000 miles away i say, how about $112.50? I really didn't have any more money on me. The guy agrees, I get the boat, with great difficulty on top of my wife's car and take off. I go on P.net to ask about what the heck i just bought, AND the Chicago guy responds to me offering me $1000! holy cow!
Ends up that i had boatman53 do some fiberglass work to reinstall new foot peg, added some foam to the bow and stern, and took it out a few times, up to the ADK also. I ended up selling it to a nice guy who travelled quit a distance for app $1700. He also gave me a Tilly hat which I've worn many a times paddling. I miss that boat but for the waters I paddle it deserved a better home which room to move. I recall a guy "Mike" on this forum who put a sail on his. Boy did he post a lot of really cool mods he did on his boats. hope he is well. Best wishes on your hunt.
