Canoe Art: Paintings, Sketches, Sculpture, Architecture

Thanks, Boatman53 for the offer. Between my wife and me. we have almost every inch of wall space covered.

Here's another artist with a more traditional feel. A few years ago, I stumbled upon the art page dedicated to Michael Connolly (1952-2008) setup by his daughter, Sarah. Lots of wonderful paintings there with a canoe tripping theme.

Here's my favourite...

Rusty's Camp

Here's another called "Encampment at Dawn"

That green wall tent looks a lot like the one I see in Robin's trip reports

Thought it might be worthwhile pointing out that there's a Winslow Homer show starting Nov 2 at MFA Boston. Should be some pretty good canoe art there I expect. Hope I can talk the wife into it.

I went to this last week with my wife. Sadly, it was too crowded to enjoy or even view the paintings despite the timed entries. Bummer.

Building greatly on this theme, the Canadian Canoe Museum is currently hosting an exhibit called "Canoe Perspectives", paintings from the McCreah Collection featuring 40 works from artists including Frances Anne Hopkins, F. H. Johnston, Alex Colville, and Ken Danby, among others.

It is well worth the trip to Peterborough!
