    Eureka timberline kananaskis outfitter 4xt

Picked up a new Eureka Timberline Kananaskis outfitter 4xt today at a local shop. I haven't owned an a-frame tent in 30 yrs.... It's well constructed, rugged and big, Anyone use these on canoe trips? The overall size and weight concern me, I have a simple 4 person Eureka Scenic Pass dome style...

    Canvas Filler

I used this filler on a couple canoes, replaced the mineral spirits with zinc / copper napthanate. If I recall, it was runny but soaked into the canvas nicely. http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?3116-Primer Didn't keep the canoe long after so I cannot comment on the long term performance...

    Duluth #4

It looks like the deluxe is the one with the hip belt, different than the one I have.

    Duluth #4

Looks like the end of the #4 Deluxe from Duluth. Hi Jamie, Yes, the #4 Deluxe Pack is unfortunately being discontinued, that means that the remaining packs in our warehouse will be sold but no more will be manufactured. If you are hoping to buy one I suggest doing so soon to make sure...

    Duluth #4

There is a good chance i'll be putting this bag up for sale (will know Friday). I was checking the Duluth website and they have a note on this style and a couple of others that it is the last chance to buy. Anyone know if they are discontinuing this model...

Old Woods #1 Special portage pack

Picked up an old Woods pack today. Still plenty of life in it. Kinda surprised to see the 2 flaps on the top compared to the one large flap on my Duluth. It's well broken in and honestly a little more comfortable than my Duluth too.

    Pal or Prospector lines?

I got the canoe today, it's likely Cedarwood"s version of a Chum. Certainly not a Bob's Special, I've seen plenty of them and never buy them.

    Pal or Prospector lines?

IMG_0259 (2) I bought this 15' Cedarwood Canoe last year and sold it for a "small" finder fee as I do with most of my canoes. Pretty sure i'll be buying it back from the owner today as I want 15' for solo runs or for the kids to use. I often have a hard time distinguishing...

    Fraser 17' Guide Special

This beautiful canoe found it's way to my yard today. Bomb proof, double ribbed Guide Special in amazing condition. I was after something more in the line of a Pal or a Prospector but the pickings are slim these days. For those unfamiliar with Fraser canoes, info can be found here...

    Portage Pack recommendations?

Don't get me wrong, the Duluth Bag is great. I'm just looking at options that may work better for me. My original plan was just to sell the low end blue bag pictured and keep the Duluth. Out of curiosity I loaded them both up to compare them with the same gear in each. That backfired as the...

    Portage Pack recommendations?

I did a quick google for portage pack in Canada and did not see much to be desired... I'm after a large pack similar to Granite gear or CCS, but sold in Canada. With exchange and shipping, ordering from stateside is not likely viable option. Anyone care to make a recommendation? I currently...

    Mem's making a paddle so do I....

Seeing this post reminded me that I needed to make a new paddle for this season. Finished this one off last night, just needs another coat or two of finish. The blade design template was copied off a paddle I purchased a few years back. Good for rivers where I spend most of my time. Solid ash...

    Mad River Duck Hunter

I picked up one a Mad River Explorer a couple months ago from a friend of mine who no longer canoes. Mine unfortunately suffered from cold cracks, (repaired by previous owner). Great looking canoe otherwise with nice wood trim. I'm not sure how I feel about the shallow v hull but i'll try to put...

How did you get started? (not paddling)

Years ago I bought my first of many Chestnuts and for a little while I thought I'd like to restore them as many do, I fixed up a couple with a lack of tools and limited woodworking ability. Enjoyed working on them but canoes take up lots of space in the shop (garage), quick weekend project...

    Lotta Canoes this weekend

My wife just shakes her head when I come home with a new to me canoe. I've likely bought and sold about 25 canoes in the past 10 years, some I work on some I don't. It's a great way to fund either your paddling or another hobby.

    watching paint dry... good times

Turned out pretty good for a little weekend project. A little fiberglass work on the bow and stern in the usual worn out spots, sand, paint and ready to go.

    watching paint dry... good times

Sawyer Cruiser in the shop this weekend, great looking canoe but it takes up every spare inch I have in the shop. Nothing I hate more than waiting for paint to dry.
