Got out for a few nights with my wife and 2 daughters. We've had good luck getting on the water the Thursday before Labor day. Usually have our pick of sites before the weekend rush comes. Went in at Long Pond, did the short carry to Slang and grabbed Site #1 on the big rock just after noon. Got out for a nice hike up Long Pond Mountain Friday, toured Turtle and Hoel ponds Saturday and then checked out Sunday morning. Just a few very brief rain showers Saturday afternoon/night. All-in-all a great outing, kids had a ball as usual.
It's been 2 years since we went last. Apparently the kids have grown a bit; who would've guessed. I have our Northwind 20 setup with my wife in the bow, both kids share the seat right behind her then all of the gear/packs between the kids and myself in the stern. 2 years ago that resulted in a very nice paddling trim. This year we were a bit bow heavy. Made out fine but I'll be making some adjustments before the next trip!
Thanks,
Ben

Thanks for your trip report and photos. I've never camped on Slang before but have spent many nights on Long Pond and across the region. Sounds like you had a wonderful time and making memories with your kids like this is priceless.

That's all for now. Take care and until next time...be well.

That’s a great spot!!
One of my employees went there every year for a decade.
When I asked if he would rather see other places, he said “The experience is different every time.”
With the kids continued growth, maybe it’s time for a second boat
