    Packing Style

You guys convinced me that I should get an air pad for sleeping, so I picked up a Klymit Static V Lux (76x30x3). Now I just need to find time to try it out on a trip!

    Packing Style

Thanks - Good to know. I might have to look into these, not just for myself, but for the rest of the family. Three big sleeping mats take up an enormous amount of space on any type of trip.

    Packing Style

I'm curious if any of you using air/inflatable sleeping pads are "XL" gentlemen? Do they hold up and provide enough cushion for the 250+ lb camper?

What brand/model? I would definitely be interested in something like that. My 3.5" REI sleeping mat takes up way too much space.

    (I Love) Scrap Minicel

Reminds me of when my grandfather died. My parents found several boxes labeled "dryer lint" in his basement. No idea what he was saving it for, but that's exactly what was inside.

    Resurrecting a Blue Barrel

I had a similar problem with a blue barrel a few years ago, though is was more of a soapy/perfume scent. I used a gallon of bleach and a couple boxes of baking soda, and then filled the rest of the barrel with water. Let it sit for a few days, and that seemed to take care of the problem.

Lightweight, Comfortable sleeping pad for big guy

I'm smaller than you (6'2" and 250 now), but I have XL versions of both REI and ALPS Mountaineering sleeping mats. The REI one is slightly bigger, I think. Both work well for me and have been durable.

Bent Paddle Brew pub, Duluth, MN

We just started getting their beer here, and I've had it at a few festivals in the past. I'm also a big fan of Fitger's in Duluth.

    Cold Water Safety

I wondered about that, too, and hoped it was a typo ... but the context of the story does indeed make it sound like there was only one.

    Cold Water Safety

Tragic story, and only one survivor: https://www.wpr.org/4-dead-kayaking-accident-lake-superior All apparently had PFDs, but Lake Superior is serious business.

    Thwart repair

I like that horizontal splice. Otherwise, I'd probably put in a small dovetail/keystone piece, instead of a square plug. But yeah, that's probably overkill, too.

    Can you Identify this Canoe?

Getting more curious about this, so I thought I would look for any Vagabonds for sale with that sliding seat ... low and behold, checked with the dealer where I bought my Wilderness, and there it is: https://haywardoutfitters.com/product/wenonah-vagabond-kl-sil-cp-fbi/

    Can you Identify this Canoe?

Wenonah's website is a little confusing, because only the photo at the top of each page is the actual model ... all the other ones have the disclaimer below: "... canoe shown with Standard Options, may not be the Vagabond." I agree that it doesn't really look narrow enough at the gunwales to be...
