You guys convinced me that I should get an air pad for sleeping, so I picked up a Klymit Static V Lux (76x30x3). Now I just need to find time to try it out on a trip!

Thanks - Good to know. I might have to look into these, not just for myself, but for the rest of the family. Three big sleeping mats take up an enormous amount of space on any type of trip.

I'm curious if any of you using air/inflatable sleeping pads are "XL" gentlemen? Do they hold up and provide enough cushion for the 250+ lb camper?

What brand/model? I would definitely be interested in something like that. My 3.5" REI sleeping mat takes up way too much space.

Reminds me of when my grandfather died. My parents found several boxes labeled "dryer lint" in his basement. No idea what he was saving it for, but that's exactly what was inside.

I had a similar problem with a blue barrel a few years ago, though is was more of a soapy/perfume scent. I used a gallon of bleach and a couple boxes of baking soda, and then filled the rest of the barrel with water. Let it sit for a few days, and that seemed to take care of the problem.

I'm smaller than you (6'2" and 250 now), but I have XL versions of both REI and ALPS Mountaineering sleeping mats. The REI one is slightly bigger, I think. Both work well for me and have been durable.

We just started getting their beer here, and I've had it at a few festivals in the past. I'm also a big fan of Fitger's in Duluth.

I like that horizontal splice. Otherwise, I'd probably put in a small dovetail/keystone piece, instead of a square plug. But yeah, that's probably overkill, too.
