Yes, a sleepover..haha

Coldfoot want's to try out his new DIY tent,

I was wondering why he was collecting all that plastic on the Algonquin trip this summer for....

Have a fun and safe rendezvous... I would have considered coming however it's the last weekend of deer season in the northern tier i.e. the Adirondacks and I have to go one more time.

We should get around 3"s of rain the next couple of days so most of the snow we had last week should be gone. It should be in the 30's Sat, maybe down in the 20's at night.
If you arrive after dark Friday, no problem, you can drive to the back of the lawn and set up by the woods, I can have firewood there for your heat.
If you want firewood, I have plenty, mostly about 14-16". I have lots of kindling also. Let me know if you require shorter wood.
I live at about 1200 elevation, there are some hikes that go to 1600' for nice views, plus an old airplane crash site with only a few scraps of alum left there for a day hike if interested. Lunch over a remote campfire?
Anybody local who wants to stop by for a visit is more than welcome. 171 Grantville Rd Norfolk, Ct (no cell service near the house but maybe back in the woods as the elevation gains) It might be good to pm me if you want to stop by so we can be around to meet up.

Sounds great, thanks. My 2 tents are already packed, will figure out other gear. I tend to take to much sometimes. I know Ray is reading this and thinking, "to much?" He always has to much. Got some schoolwork to do first. We had a lot of rain here today also, to bad not colder, but all is good. Talk soon.

have a great weekend! Its icing here.. and have a concert in Kennebunkport Sat and the Maine Coastal Botanical Gardens in Boothbay are all lit up for Sunday.

Robin, On Friday you'll probably see an 18 wheeler arrive carrying Coldfeet's camping gear. His idea of packing light for an overnight canoe trip is somewhere around 100+ pounds of gear so semi-car camping in your back lot should be a major logistical maneuver. On a positive note as his wife and I agree you'll end up wondering whether you are laughing with him or at him. - Ray

Ray! I miss you! Hope all is well, why not join in on the fun! We can practice tandem paddling but this time we can keep the boat on land and practice the verbal cues. I'm sure Robin wouldn't mind splashing us once in a while, maybe even a backwards paddle. Will be like old times!

I think I'm down from the 18 wheeler to a bakers dozen :)

Wish I could make it but have had a massive buck play hid & seek with me all week so far, if my luck changes today or tomorrow ,I may yet make it if the invitation stands .

I just don't understand how come I always have so much stuff to bring? I miss my old minivan that was so huge with the seats out. Think it's my car and not my gear.

Bagels ordered, will pick up in the am. Long Island Ale is in the cooler.

I'm actually bringing 2 tents. The old Morsan to show Robin and bring back memories, plus that Sears Hillary I picked up last year. My stove box is 16" deep so that wood you have will be perfect.

It's possible that I will be leaving later and will arrive later tomorrow night. Will let you know in the morning.

Looking forward to hanging and looking at the stars. Hope it's clear out.

Took the night off from work. The plan is to leave the house by noon and take the scenic route over the Bear Mountain to NY 22 to 55 to the Housatonic. Would it be too long a ride on 7 or should I stay on 22 till 44? Anyway GPS is a wonderful thing, most of the time.

Are you guys staying Saturday night as well? It'll be 1 night for me, Friday or Saturday.
Anyone bringing trade blanket items? I've got some misc. stuff to move along but also interested in buying used gear.
Anyone bringing maps - would be great to talk trip planning! Robin said he has venison so maybe I'll bring bacon with trout or landlocked salmon or squirrel just to have some fun backwoods campfire food. I could bring wraps, spices, tomato, onion for venison tacos if that would be of interest?? Fun to share meals.

Sounds good, I'll look around tomorrow to see if I have any gear to trade. Looking forward to some good eats over the fire.

I have made the trip from Middletown NY to my house many times, I always took 84 to the Taconic to 44. but 55 to 7 is a long ride but nice, you can leave 7 at Cornwall Bridge and follow 4 east to East Street North in Goshen, take ESN to 272 to Norfolk

Sounds like you are quite the bushcraft gormet chef. I am not that creative in that dept. A can of beans will suffice for me, ha ha. I just did some shopping, hamburger helper one night, haven't figured out the other. I have some cheese and crackers and summer sausage to share. Let me know if you want anything else. Coldfeet is bringing bagels. Any requests in the alcohol dept?
It looks like Friday and Saturday nights. I figured out how to make a down sleeping bag to stay under the cot, I will bring a couple of bags just in case some adjustments are needed.

Can't leave until 5:30-6:00 tonight. Will take app 3 hours plus traffic.

I'm bringing bagels, soup, cheese and tortillas, burgers, ham and eggs, some Long Island Bluepoint winter ale and anything else I can grab out of the frig.

Since we are getting there late tonight I figure that we would set up a quick shelter and cold camp tonight. But if possible send me your cell #'s and I will call you a short time before we pull in. This way we can hang out tonight for a bit. Will set up the big tent tomorrow morning. Safe driving.

Looks like the weather will clear but mild (high in the 40's) no snow this trip so it will be John Deere and not toboggans to the wooded campsite.

I can bring a second tent and have it set up for ya. Eureka Timberline 4 or a cabin tent?
