Some of them are self explanatory, and it might be the brown beer talkin', but some have puzzled me since the day I signed up here.

Some of the puzzling ones to me I found were actually places in Canada. A few I can't find any reference for.

You know who you are. Care to elaborate?

Google mine and you'll find it means 'the bird' in French. Or if you took French or have been exposed to it, you'd know that. It's also slang for the middle finger.

Me in the pic from the old days....

I had a good friend years ago whose french name was very close to L'Oiseau. He was fluently bilingual, and insisted his anglo friends call him Bird. Till you came along I hadn't heard that name "bird" in a long time.
My name is easy. You can google Odyssey (Odysseus), but this name is simply the model of my canoe.

ps I'm having a brown pop too right now.

Which Odyssey? I have one too. I suspect that it is not the same as yours.. it's 18.5 feet long by Wenonah. Does that make me Odyssey two?

Mihun is not a place in Canada. It is a name Christine gave me in '09. It is Cree for Wolf. I have 3 wolf tattoos on my back, the largest being about 9" square. My spirit is that of the wolf.

Yes YC, that makes you Odyssey 2, or maybe Odyssey too?

That canoe is just tooo pretty
Thanks Mihun, the inside is pretty, but the outside suffers from, um, uummm, rock rash. Oh well.

I've heard of Langford canoes of course, but the red langford connection went right over my head.
Classic sounding name.

ps Do remember the old TV show Red Fisher?

Kinda boring, but mine's just something that felt right because of something going on in my life at the time I started posting on internet forums about 12/13 years ago... later, I found out a "seeker" as also the initiate in a vision quest... that kinda matched my life-long curiosity about things in general, and a special interest in all things spiritual, so I kept it, even after I got life mostly straightened out... The bear paw thing was after an encounter on Lake Lila in 2009, and was sort of a milestone in itself, so I use it for everything 'net-related'... forums, Facebook, etc.

This is one that had me stumped. All the rest I had some idea of what the words meant or could imagine what they might be. This was just letters to me and was one I was referring to. Thanks for the explanation.

Alchemist! Are you happy with that brand? I always figured when my Langford suffered from too much rock rash as you put it, I would look at the Alchemist Legend. There was a few features that made me keen on those. I spoke to manufacturer just after buying my Langford and he had some interesting ideas about the design and materials.

Mine is boring. I kind of adopted it, as, when I first started playing around on the internet, I was 31, which, for an infantryman, is OLD. So, it kinda stuck. That was 14 years ago now. And, looking back, I only wish I were that young again. Or, at least, my knees were!!!
The other one I COULD have gone with was Big Sister, as that was my unofficial call sign in the Army, as I generally made sure everyone had what was needed, and minded after my troops. But, by the time I was given that one, I already had an email address, and several forums associated with Oldsoldier. So, I kept it.

Mine is probably one of those self-explanatory names, but perhaps not. Amongst the many canoeing-related there are, my two favorites are canoe poling and canoe tripping. Poling a canoe is as close as I've come to walking on the water, but "riverwalker" seemed too, uh, pedestrian a name. So "strider" it was. And I'd much prefer striding on rivers or, in the case of canoe tripping, striding from river to river, or watershed to watershed to connect the dots.

Just cause my first tripping canoe was yellow and that was the canoe I learned to solo in. Like me its gotten heavier over the years. It got some epoxy and some new rails after it was run through a strainer in Connecticut.

You are welcome.

I fit into the lone wolf category.

There are much worse things it could be, like Christine's handle at MyCCR which is Segosih. In Cree it means Weasel. Ain't no way anyone is making a movie called "Dancing with Weasels".

You'll have to ask her the why when she returns from vacation back home in the Niagara Peninsula of Ontario.
