For at least 25 years, the only televisions we've had are two old, standard definition, 4:3 Sony CRTs. I didn't mind because I rarely watch TV and, when I did, I could watch the Spectrum channels on my laptop computer.
But this fall Spectrum shut off my cable boxes and sent me new ones, which didn't work because my TVs are SD and don't have HDMI inputs. The Spectrum techs who I spoke to on the phone and who visited my house said they had never seen a CRT TV before, and that virtually all their customers now use streaming rather than cable boxes.
What's streaming?
Oh, it's what I do when watching stuff on my computer all day long. Okay.
So . . . on Black Friday I bought a 55" Roku smart TV, which cost less than some canoe paddles. Since then, I've had little time to keep up with posts on this site because I have to binge watch 10 years of canoe shows on Netflix, Disney+, and the Roku channel.
Wow, I can even watch in Silent Night with something called bluetooth headphones.
Thank goodness no one is asking what we bought ourselves for Christmas. (Some spouses read this forum.)
