Back to the crater (this time for real?) Manicouagan Reservoir

I've been checking his progress around the island and, for the last 2 days, I can't display the tracks.

Refreshing centers the map on what I presume to be his current location & I can see that he's been sending messages but the tracks aren't displaying. Computer glitch on my end or an inReach glitch on his?

(Can anyone else see the tracks?)

I can see all his tracks and his stoppage as of 7:12 pm today. He's a little more than half way around.

OK, thanks guys. I've gotta believe that the glitch is in my laptop so I'll restart the computer & see if that fixes it then, perhaps, resort to "percussive maintenance" if the condition persists.

Edit: Restarting solved the issue with no need to smack the laptop around. Thanks again for checking.

I have returned. I would consider it a "good" trip, not spectacular but any solo trip without some sort of "hiccup" is a good one. I have never done a solo trip that is intentionally 100% flat water, not sure I would want to do it again (the all flat water part) although during the trip I was thinking that maybe I would try circumnavigating Lake Nipigon one day, might be to "crowded" for my liking. From Day 1 it was apparent that is would take some time to get a grip of the scale of things, at any time it's possible to pick a target 20 or 30km away, paddle for several hours and it looks like that target is even further away (map & gps say no). I had some similar experiences during my 2018 crossing of the Smallwood Reservoir in Labrador. One big difference, the land that surrounds the Manic is ALL hills, in all directions at all times.

In the past I have promised trips reports and have not followed through, I'm going to try a new approach this time, one thing that may help, I have virtually no video. I also plan to slash and burn through some 9,000 words of notes. The atmospheric conditions were not that favourable for photography, I took lots of picks (pretty basic equipment and operator skills from a bobbing canoe) but that should make it easy to select a few for each day.

Question for @Glenn MacGrady

I'm going to post one day at at time every few days. Should I just start adding to this thread or start a new one?

I think that's a great way to do it. Bite sized pieces rather than the seemingly insurmountable task of writing and editing the whole thing. I think it should be a separate thread.

i can't wait to hear more about it!

I agree. Put the exact name of the reservoir in the trip report title so that search engines will grab onto that name for future researchers.
