For some reason the photos did not load properly. The beam is 33" and overall length is 15'. I recall reading that others were also having photograph upload issues so apparently I am as well.
There is no Chestnut labeling per the present owner. Per discussion with Robin after he reviewed photos he also believes that the canoe is a chum. I looked through the old Chestnut Canoe Catalogues and the dimensions do in fact match up with a chum. When I pick it up on Sunday I will share additional photos to confirm the model with all the experts in this forum. Thanks for all the replies. Looking forward to the impending restoration project that lies ahead.
Today I picked up the Chestnut Chum and brought her home to her new home. The canoe is in fact 32" at the beam and 15' feet in length. The canoe has a shoe keel that Patrick Corry mentioned but there are no original identifications other than the stem serial number and the residue of where the deck decal had been previously. Searched the Canadian Canoe Museum website today and was thrilled to have found decals for purchase. Looking forward to this restoration especially since it will be the first. Here are some pictures of the Chestnut Chum at homebase.
Very distinctive decks with the hard crown on them, the cleats for seat hangers, and the really narrow ribs suggest a local builder who incorporated features of different designs. Pretty sweet boat BTW.
