If it's cool geography you want, take a trip down the Red Deer river through the Alberta Badlands and Hoodoo's, they've got it all- flat top Mesas, painted rocks, ravines and canyons, spires, cactus, and even dinosaur bones. One word of advice though- it can hit 100+F during the day in those canyons, and get snow flurries at night...Well, yes and no. If you want to see something impressive if you're ever out here again, take the old highway between Bliss and Glenn's Ferry and look at the huge boulders that were ground round and lifted out of the Snake River canyon by the Bonneville Flood. There's another field of them farther downstream about 40 minutes from my home. Truly mind boggling.
Idaho's geology is extremely diverse.
