I have a 1959 OT 16' Guide canoe(it's the lightweight model). The specs say it is 12 inches deep and has a flat bottom. Mine is closer to 14 inches deep and has a round bottom. I like the way it paddles and the hull doesn't look deformed at all, so my question is, did it change shape over the years or was it made that way. The gunnels, decks and thwarts are original.

Hi Al, word on the street is that they can round out over the years. It might depend on how they were stored, sometimes care may have not been taken during construction and it took on some rounding after being pulled off the form. You might like a round hull a little better anyway, unless you want to stand and fish.

Hi Bob,
It is pretty heavy, close to 90 pounds. People portaged them for years.
I have run a lot of rivers in that boat in the last 27 years.
We rarely portage in the West, but do some lining and poling.
