Poll: How Many Canoes and Kayaks Have you Owned?

I have been looking for canoes, repairing canoes and paddling them for the last 45 years. Now I am aging and selling the last one. It is very difficult to give them up. I still plan to stay on the water.

Today I just saw a beautiful OT Guide 16 in great shape. Wood and canvas for $1000. It is hard to pass up.

21 . Probably forgot a few and that does not include hubbys kayaks ( but he has only had three I think. He has owned his current k ride 30 years)
Still have 8. Not actually a frequent buyer or seller over the years

then don't . I bet NV is hard market to get top dollar for a canoe.

I hit 25-30 but most of those canoes were restored and sold back when I lived in Connecticut, most I never paddled.
Today I have 6 wood canvas canoes, a wood canvas square stern canoe, and a couple of Kevlar canoes that need work before selling them.

Two sea kayaks, one double canoe and six solo canoes. Total nine.

Since this poll started in 2023, I've bought two more open canoes—which, by far, have been my two most expensive open canoes—and hence changed my vote to 20-25. I sold my outrigger canoe to @Pseudonym during this period, too.

I have yet to make any of my canoe arbitrage pay off, but I've always enjoyed it.

Since I'd first responded, I've built 4. I'm, therefore, currently at 10 and will probably have to change it again this Spring.

I think on avarage i certainly buy and sell at least 1 a year. Started paddling 40 + years.
Some reasons.
Paddles many disciplines
Some of those raced where the newest boats where actually bettter
Kayaked whitewater around 2000, when boats became better every 6 months and many brands did new models at least once a year.
Worked in paddling shops for over a decade.

Flatwater k1 between 10 an 20
Whitewater kayak same
Flatwater k2 5
Kids kayak 1 the first
Slalom baots 5
Canoe between 10 and 15
Surfski between 5 and 10
Seakayak 10
All are ish figures. I guess if i pick my brain for a day it will become clearer.
