"In one century we have come from a society that feared wilderness to one desperately trying to save it. This film details the changing needs for wilderness over one hundred years of Ontario Parks."

Excellent and enjoyable footage here, including canoeing, camping, and tripping.

It is interesting to see the parallels in the Conservation Movements in the United States and Canada.
It is fine to have National and Provincial Parks. But I mostly avoid them now because of the crowds and all of the rules.

Americans and Canadians are re-evaluating how they feel about forest management and logging. It was unregulated in the early days. Then it became too regulated in the last 30 years in the US. We have paid the price with massive fires and problems with insect invasions and pathogens. The USFS is hiring foresters, timber cruisers and surveyors although there is little press about it. Previous issues with environmental lawsuits and a slow environmental review process effectively stopped most timber sales. Now we are seeing new mills going and in and more timber sales. As a forester, I believe we are on the right track again in the US to start managing our forests and reducing the ravages of crown fires.
