So sad. Gene and brother john made the woodstrip canoe I raced in 3 of my Yukon River races and several Adirondack 90 milers. Gene was always an Adirondack 90-miler. His last race was 3-4 years ago before he could no longer participate. So sad to hear of his passing. Had I known in time I would have made the 2.5-hour trip to the funeral.

Sad news. I'd heard about (and seen) GRB Newman's fast canoes and got to meet Gene and John last year. Had a nice talk with them when I went up to demo and order a canoe and another when I picked it up. I feel fortunate to have met them. RIP, Gene.
