Incredible thread. The most detailed work and info I've found on this model. What a great contribution.

As you could see in the previous pictures, I had built a new, temporary seat ...

BUT - it was just nice to look at. Since I always sit on the side of the boat while paddling, the resting place for my butt was always on the small piece of wood. And after a while that was quite painful.

So I modified the sit first. The seat became a bench.

THAT had worked well and the first paddling trips showed me that I was on the right track ...
As the first bench seat was only a “trial” and not particularly well made, I decided to build a new bench seat after a few more short paddling trips. This time in beautiful.

At the same time I had glued new anchor points in the canoe. These will help me to better secure my panniers in the boat for future white water passages.

Well done Kahel. A lot of people are intimidated by eye splices in general and in braided line in particular. Are you going to put a whipping at the top of the eye? I think that makes a nice finishing touch.
Looks like a nice marline spike knife, who makes it? I’ve had a Buck Yachtsman’s knife since the 70’s and didn’t really know many other brands made a marlin spike knife, I now have a couple that have found their way into my ditty bag and pockets.

They were made by a german company in Solingen.
