I also cannot upgrade to the screened doors economically. Any good hacks to screening something to get some airflow?

Do the windows slide open? Lots of commercial options for screening there. Or, you can leave the door open and make yourself a custom mesh curtain like THIS. I have used them for an unrelated cover project and had no complaints. They have a customization process that is quite thorough for the price.
